Will work for friends…

23 05 2009

If my blog were a country town it would be one of those ones with tumbleweeds rolling down the main drag, with a louvered door banging away on the closed pub.

I think I have posted about 6 times since I have moved to Canberra, a pretty poor effort. Especially considering I probably have more spare time on my hands here. I have now been living here for over 6 months, all in all I am glad I moved. I love living in Canberra, the lifestyle change has been huge. I now have a vege patch (dying) a cat (still alive and despised by nasty, bird loving neighbour) and I even go to the gym three times a week.

I guess the only downside is I actually don’t have many friends here. Of the people I went to school with here I am only really in touch with one of them on a regular basis, I work independently and even though I am always out and about visiting clients it’s hard to form a natural friendship with them. Especially when they are probably suspicious that I am just using it as a selling technique.

Luckily I am busy a lot of the time, Mick’s kids come to stay every couple of weekends and we see my family quite a lot but sometimes I just wish I had a friend who could pop in for a cuppa or I could meet for a wine.

Then my life would truly be perfect :)

So… what should I do to make some friends? Mick’s sister is a member of a book club so I’ve joined that, I’ve joined the gym and have made a friend there but she works two jobs so it has not progressed past her saving a spot for me at pump and spin. What else?
