We had wine, grapes, roasted pumpkin dip, water crackers and White Castello cheese with quince paste on slices of baguette.
We turned off the power and played Operation (battery operated!) by candle light.
It gets harder the more wine you drink.
I hope that your Earth Hour was as enjoyable as ours and that if you didn’t join us this year, you will in 2009.
Basil says: Candles make me hott.

OH SHOO! I am so happy Basil enjoyed himself!
I haven’t played “Operation” in years! Mind, I was operating on a sheep just a few days ago…
I wish I could have “earth hour-ed” with you!
I wish I WAS THERE….i had a dull earth-hour. It’s not the same turning the lights off by yourself.
My…how Basil has grown. I remember when he was a wee thing..
This looks like a photoshoot from some v glam eco-magazine. Never has operation looked so happening!
Julaberry and Schoon – saving the world in style….
I missed our Earth Area balcony sighting from last year… BATS. Lots of bats!
We had candles at a friends house with Monopoly & cards, oh, and fudge.
But still would’ve been better if you were here!
i can’t play operation. the buzzing sounds scares the shit out of me every single time. my nerves can’t handle the pressure.
I emphathise with Mick, it’s not so fun on your own, I turned it all off and did the candle thing and went and yarned with the neighbour for a bit but that is about as exciting as it got! Nowhere near as fun (or as YUMMY) as your Earth Hour.
Blair got severely burnt picking up a metal cased tealight candle at the end of earth hour. Thank god he did though as it was burning through our wooden dining table. Wonder if the fire service had more calls that night???
We turned out the lights but then played Dance dance revolution in the semi-darkness. I don’t know if that counts…
