And another thing…

Courgettes = Zucchini.

Zucchini is a much funner word. After all, you can’t sing “Courgettes, in bikinis, are coming down the stairs”. It sounds funny.
“Zucchinis, in bikinis, are coming down the stairs” just has a certain je ne sais quoi to it.

Squash = Pumpkin

People in the UK don’t eat pumpkin, not really.
You can try and talk them into it, but they will not trust you.
They feed pumpkin to pigs, you see.

Offy = Bottle Shop

Do not ask people where the Bottleo is. This is just asking for trouble. Ask for your nearest Offy or Off-License and drink as much as you can, because you may soon come face to face with…..

Pickled eggs – Yes. People eat these. No, I don’t think they are much cop, but I eat avocado on toast so we all have out little idiosyncracies.

You cannot pay for things with EFTPOS, however, you can ask to pay by Switch or Solo

Gammon = Ham Steaks.

I unwittingly asked my friend Karl if Gammon was game.

Mange Tout = Snowpeas

I much prefer to say Mange Tout. I sound posh. (I just wrote “pish”)

England. How I miss you.
