& its you and me in the summertime….

14 12 2006

& its you & me in the summertime
We’ll be hand down in the park
With a squeeze & a sigh & that twinkle in your eye
& all the sunshine banishes the dark
& its you I need in the summertime
As I turn my white skin red
Two peas from the same pod yes we are
Or have I read too much fiction?
Is this how it happens?
How does it happen?
Is this how it happens?
Now, right now

Isabel asked me what I had planned for the Christmas break and I am just so excited I had to share it with all 15 of you (my, how my readership has GROWN, people will soon be paying me to mention their products in my blog).

Originally, Schoon and I had grand plans to go the UK and France for the holiday period to visit our wonderful friends (including and not limited to: Anita, Karl, Cassy, Georgie, Steph, Sticky, Alice, Laura, Dave J, Gerry G, Steve, Mary, Leon and ALL my wonderful work colleagues from DCP7….) and I could also visit my two FAVOURITE cousins Leah (who is due to have a wee baby in January, I think) and Lexie in Edinburgh because I MISS THEM SO MUCH AND I WANT THEM TO COME HOME AND WE WERE GOING TO MAKE RUMBALLS AND MAYBE WATCH ANNE OF GREEN GABLES FOR OLD TIMES SAKE.

And it is also my 30th around that time and I really did not want to spend such a momentous occasion here.

But, alas, with the forthcoming purchase of the new flat in May and the need to save money for things like paint and moving costs (again) and you know, towels and shit, we had to can the overseas trip.

For now anyway.

But tomorrow, tomorrow is my LAST day at work until the EIGHTH of January, 2007! Woohoo.

I am so excited.

I have not had a proper holiday for over 2 years and I am tired just typing that sentence.

Sunday, Schoon and I head off in Molly Mazda up the inland route to Queensland. We are planning to stop off in Armidale for one night to break the trip up and we will stay in our favourite Armidale Motel as we always do. I can’t remember what it is called, I always just call it the Betty Cuthbert Jacaranda Motor Inn, but it is a bargain and when you drop their water glasses on the tiles in the bathroom they BOUNCE and DO NOT BREAK!

Hopefully Target Country will be open the next morning, because I find it fascinating. So much flannel and sensible shoes.

Our second day on the road will see us head on up to Toowoomba where I will spend a night at Schoon’s parents house out in the sticks before heading in to the big smoke to spend a few days catching up with my friends. 3 of them have had babies in the past year… I SO know what they have been doing! I can’t WAIT to see Cinty, Liss, Kell and Dinger and their assorted bubs.

In Toowoomba I will be staying at Maison Cherry with my darling, darling Jase and I plan on welcoming him home from a hard day of hairsdressing with some cheeky little beverages.

And Schoonee and I are going Christmas Shopping at Toowoomba’s Grand Central, the shopping metropolis that it is.

From Toowoomba I will head up to my Grandma and Grandpa’s house at Hervey Bay to spend Christmas with them and my Mum.

Hervey Bay is seriously one of my favourite places on earth… look at this….

Is this not God’s Country? (These photos were taken in mid Winter, at about 6am, so when it’s coldest… hahahahaha)

I’ll fill you in on the other plans later, including my birthday and New Years, as it’s now past midnight and I have my last day of work tomorrow!

Maybe Santa will swing by on his sleigh and pick the both of you up and bring you to Londres….there will be no white Christmas in Hervey Bay after all!

And are you the navigator for the road trip to Toowoomba? I seem to remember the two of you getting slightly lost on each trip to Canberra, no?

Enjoy your hols x x x

Firstly: Anne of Green Gables? You’ve GOT to be kidding me!! The Megan Follows version!!? This is too much.

Secondly, THAT’S what it looks like in midwinter there?!?! Christ on a bike.

There’s a place called Toowoomba??! That’s amazing. It’s the type of name I’d make up if someone from the government said I could name a new town.

Have a kickass christmas break! Make the most of it all. You can come here for Christmas any time (well any Christmastime, obv). It’s ganna be a “mild and wet” one this year, which is hardly the sort of festive climate that travellers from a hot country would want anyway.

Sticky – erm… yes, we may have got lost on the way to Canberra once or twice but we can find our way to Woombie with our eyeses shut! The whitest we will get will be the coconut on the rumballs!

Knocksie – I will pass your lucious loving on to Jacky Smackie, Lissa, Jace, Dinger, Cazza, Monkey and J9!
Only you are missing :(

Aly – I am soooo jealous of teacher holidays, but not the teacher bit!

tjo’ – YES! The Megan Follows version! Funnily enough when I was in Toronto for Christmas a few years ago I watched a telemovie where Megan played a prostitue …. ruined by memory of Anne forever. And yes, that is mid-winter…. tough huh?

Gareth – Before the London trip was cancelled I was actually going to see if we could meet up for a debaucherous night of cheap champagne and karaoke :(

hola – Do you think a “proper” holiday has particularly good manners and helps clear away the plates after the Christmas dinner?
